Good Food Ireland 2025

The Good Food Ireland 2025 Conference convened Tuesday March 25 at the Anatantara Marker Hotel Dublin to address current trends and concerns in the Irish Food scene.
The conference also marked the launch of Good Food Ireland Experiences, a shopping list of culinary tours, picnic lunches, oyster farm visits and other adventures that visitors can book in advance.
The list of speakers was a Who’s Who of Irish food dignitaries, experts and government spokespeople.
Two of my favorite subjects: Culinary Tourism in Ireland and Irish Seafood, were the topics of two of the morning sessions.
In another session, locavore pioneer Peter Ward of Country Choice Grocery in Nenagh asked tough questions about Food Security on the island. Years ago, farmers sold direct to consumers, but we have lost that connection. Now we rely on complex distribution systems, he noted.
The recent extreme wind storms that shut down transportation, the electric grid and fiber optic internet for weeks in some places prompted Peter to wonder how we could feed 4 million people in an emergency.

When he wan’t being a brilliant food world strategist, Peter sliced some of his terrific roasted ham.
Lunch was a showcase of products made by Good Food Ireland members–and it was quite a spread!
