Congrats Caitríona!

Congratulations to IRELAND EATS own Caitríona Devery who was shortlisted for the Emerging Writer award at this year’s Irish Food Writing Awards for her contributions to this blog!
Caitriona was nominated alongside four other finalists:
- Louise Robbie (@littleloucooks) for Make and Freeze
- Ronan Doyle for his writing on All The Food
- Niamh Browne (@hownowniamhbrowne) for her work published in @irishtimesfood
- Giselle Makinde (@sambabygiselle) for Samba
Giselle Makinde took the honors for her brilliant cookbook Samba, all about Brazilian food, published by Blasta Books. The category was judged by UK-based food and drink expert Charlotte Pike and sponsored by Ireland’s Blue Book. The awards ceremony took place in O’Reilly Hall, UCD on 22 October where attendees shared a sumptuous dinner featuring Irish specialities.
This was the sixth year of the awards and marked legacies as well as celebrating wins. The recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Achievement award, the late Ernie Whalley was remembered, and the first award of the evening, the Food Writing Award, was won posthumously by the late Corinna Hardgrave of The Irish Times and presented to her husband Steve.
The nominees on the many awards shortlists reflect the range of voices now writing about food in Ireland. Entries included cookbooks, newspaper features, digital publishing and social media.
Founded by food writer and broadcaster Suzanne Campbell, the Irish Food Writing Awards recognise excellence, insight and creativity across food writing, broadcasting, podcasting, social media and photography. The Awards acknowledge both established voices and rising talent across Ireland’s vibrant food media community.
Caitríona’s articles are available throughout this site, and we look forward to publishing more from her.
