No. 9 The bacon cheddar cheeseburger at Mayfield on Terenure
A good introduction to Irish burgers, this petite sandwich has a lot going for it. The freshly ground Irish beef, sharp cheddar and toasted bun were all spot on, but it was the superior quality of the streaky bacon that made this bacon cheeseburger exemplary. Ireland is for Bacon Lovers!
Other good bets at Mayfield include entrees like the meatballs, duck confit, and the salmon salad. Mayfield’s appetizers, which include a Middle Eastern mezze plate, Tex-Mex nachos, spicy chicken wings, pita and spinach dip, and French Onion soup present a dilemma for the well-traveled food lover.
It’s lovely to see such a cosmopolitan display of culinary multiculturalism, but don’t expect the nachos to taste anything like the ones back in Texas.
